Terroir in the Vineyard

Clare Valley Gourmet Week | Sunday 21st May 2023

Bourke & Travers + Terroir Auburn

Terroir in the Vineyard lunch

Terroir in the Vineyard is a collaboration between Bourke & Travers wines and Terroir Auburn, with a focus on celebrating the unique and ancient terroir of the Clare Valley via its food and wine.

The event will be a journey of discovery with an introduction to Bourke & Travers vineyards, grown on some of the oldest soils in the world, dating up to 800 million years. This uniqueness is on full display, with terra rossa over limestone, deep sandy loams, red clays, siltstone gravel and quartzite bedrock soils. On this, Bourke & Travers base a simple winemaking philosophy: grow outstanding fruit in the vineyards and don't overcomplicate it in the winery.

Auburn Terroir's philosophy is about local produce with a strong focus on seasonality, sustainability and humanely treated stocks. Since opening Terroir Auburn in 2012, Dan Moss has been committed to using outstanding local supplies to gain broader knowledge of the region and support community. His cooking juxtaposes current and old school techniques in a true representation of the modern Clare Valley.

Terroir in the Vineyard, celebrating the story of the earth beneath our vines and land, is an exclusive event, limited to 25 guests. The experience will begin with a pre-lunch vineyard walking tour of Bourke & Travers, hosted by David Travers, before returning to the House Block vineyard for a seated lunch, by Dan Moss, delivered in Terroir Auburn’s sophisticated locavore style. All food, wine and non-alcoholic beverages are included.
